T.W. LEWIS SUSTAINS NHQ CERTIFICATION
TEMPE, Ariz. – November 1, 2008 – Commitment to continual process improvement and customer satisfaction in home building has lead T.W. Lewis to achieve the highly regarded builder certification by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Research Center. The official notification of T.W. Lewis’ National Housing Quality (NHQ) certification was received in November 2007 and recertification was received in November 2008 following a rigorous audit by NHQ.
“We are proud to have received the National Housing Quality certification,” says President Kevin Egan. “We care very much about construction quality and delivering high customer satisfaction, and we believe this certification is a significant step for us in our pursuit of quality and service excellence.”
The certification comes after a rigorous audit by NHQ experts, the development of a customer-focused quality management system that meets NHQ requirements and documented management processes. T.W. Lewis is one of only three builders in Arizona to hold the certification.
Participation in the NHQ Certified Builder program is designed to foster consistency and quality in building practices. Already recognized as an industry leader in construction quality and customer service, as an NHQ Certified Builder T.W. Lewis will complete an ongoing review of business practices to ensure all elements of their quality assurance system are integrated to provide greater efficiency and customer satisfaction.
The National Housing Quality (NHQ) certification is administered by the NAHB Research Center and presented to builders who satisfy the requirements of certification. For more consumer information on what NHQ certification means for home owners, please visit:

T.W. LEWIS TAKES NATIONAL GOLD
NHQ Award recognizes quality achievement and operational excellence
TEMPE, Ariz. – October 7, 2008 – T.W. Lewis is the sole recipient of the 2009 National Housing Quality (NHQ) Gold Award. The NHQ Gold Award recognizes the highest level of quality achievement in the housing industry and is regarded as the top recognition in new home construction. The NAHB Research Center, a subsidiary of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), and Reed Business Information, publisher of Professional Builder magazine, presented the award to T.W. Lewis executives at a dinner reception at the Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa in Phoenix, Ariz. on Monday evening.
“This award is a significant accomplishment in the homebuilding industry and one that our company and associates are very honored to receive,” said T.W. Lewis President and COO Kevin Egan. “The NHQ Gold Award reaffirms the path we have chosen as a company—a path that is focused to product quality, customer satisfaction and operational excellence.”
Patterned after the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the NHQ Awards are open to all U.S. residential builders and focus on the role that customer-focused quality plays in construction, business management, sales, design and warranty service. Achieving the NHQ Award requires more than just operating a great home building company. Candidates must implement sophisticated operating processes that improve performance; and those processes must be documented in an extensive application that is verified through a site visit by NHQ Award judges.
“The National Housing Quality Award is the hardest award to win in home building,” said Professional Builder editorial director and NHQ Award judge Paul Deffenbaugh. “It requires dedication and purpose throughout a home building company, and only the best can achieve this distinction.”
As the winner of the NHQ Gold Award, T.W. Lewis is featured as the cover story for the October issue of Professional Builder magazine. The article highlights the company’s quality management practices and how they serve as a model for the benefit of the housing industry. NHQ Award winners are recognized at the gold, silver, and bronze level with honorable mentions for notable performance in business-critical areas of customer satisfaction, leadership, human resources, strategic planning, performance management, construction quality, supplier partnerships, and business results. T.W. Lewis achieved outstanding results in all business-critical areas, making it the only home builder in America to achieve NHQ Gold Award status for 2009.
